The earthworm can turn dead plants into nutrients that is able to support the soil. It is believed that in a single day, the earthworm eat up dead plant matter equivalent to its weight. The earthworms, however, display these wonders only on certain types of soil. The earthworm tries to keep the soil nutrient-rich and is capable of preparing food for existing plants from the dead ones, which are eventually absorbed by the growing plants along with water.
