MBBS Admission in India: Overview

Eligibility requires passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English (min. 50% marks). The sole UG course is the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). Offered at government and private medical colleges approved by the NMC. The program spans 4.5 years plus a 1-year compulsory internship. Fees range drastically: nominal in government colleges vs. lakhs/annum in private. Admission is strictly through the NEET-UG entrance exam score, followed by centralized counseling (like MCC or state quotas) for allocating limited seats.
