New Delhi: A woman lost more than Rs 20 lakh within three days after falling prey to the task scam of Telegram group of cyber thugs. By the time the woman realized, the thugs had completed their task and left. On the complaint of the woman, the cyber cell team of North West district is registering a case and investigating. According to the police, the 32-year-old victim lives with her family in the North West area. Told that she fell into the trap of scam through Telegram.
In fact, on March 31, a WhatsApp message was received on his mobile number regarding part time job to earn money sitting at home. The person sending the message said that you just have to like it on platforms like Google, YouTube. He will give money in return. He gave a link to like Taj Palace Hotel and put a review on Google. The victim completed this task. He sent a telegram link. Said that he will give further guidance to earn money.
He asked for basic information like name, age, job, WhatsApp number, city. After that a group was shown. In which it was found from the messages coming that many people are connected to it and they are continuously getting money, the screenshot of which they were sharing. He told the victim that similarly, when she completes the given tasks, she would be added to this group. Then the lady asked for account details to transfer the money and sent her bank details. He transferred Rs 150.
